Conflict Resolution, Choreographic Practice, and the Creation of Participatory Events / Workshop  / Dana Caspersen / Bardejov

15. october 2019 / 10.00 – 12.00 a.m.

Study innovative strategies with Dana Caspersen, conflict specialist, award-winning performer, and author of Changing the Conversation: The 17 Principles of Conflict Resolution, and The MichaelDouglas Kollektiv, whose focus includes research on collaborative art production and the development of collective creation methods in the performance context.

What moves? How does it move? Why does it move? In this interactive workshop, participants will engage with Caspersen’s work integrating practices from conflict resolution and choreography in the creation of participatory events. Using tools from this practice, participants will gain hands-on experience in creating new, physically-based models for communication, reflection and exchange. No dance experience or physical skill required.

DANA CASPERSEN, MS, MFA, is a conflict specialist, award-winning performing artist, and author of Changing the Conversation: The 17 Principles of Conflict Resolution (Penguin, a Joost Elffers Book). Her work integrates traditional conflict engagement strategies with choreographic methodologies. She creates projects ranging from individual coaching tools to large-scale participatory events that have brought together thousands of people from diverse communities across the world– from a refugee camp in Berlin, Germany to Lincoln Center’s Global Exchange conference in New York City. Caspersen has been a primary collaborator of choreographer William Forsythe for 30 years, as a text author and principal artist in Forsythe’s most celebrated works.
